PARISH IN BLOOM COMPETITION 2021

w/c 5 July 2021

Each year the Parish Council makes awards to the gardeners of those gardens that add colour and interest to the parish. In 2020 no competition took place but it is hoped that this year the Parish Council can once again recognise the great variety of garden styles in our community.

 The categories are as follows:

WALLED GARDEN

CONTAINER GARDEN

OPEN PLAN

SMALL GARDEN

LANDSCAPED GARDEN

COMMUNITY GARDEN

ALLOTMENT GARDEN

During the w/c 5 July 2021 the Parish in Bloom judges will tour the parish on the lookout for worthy winners. However if you know of a garden, either of a friend or neighbour, or pass by and delight in what you see, please let the Clerk know to make sure that it is included on the judges’ list

A4174 Junction Improvement Scheme

24 May -16 August 2021

Consultation on the A4174 Junction Improvement Scheme

South Gloucestershire Council is holding a 12-week consultation between 24 May and 16 August 2021 on proposals to improve the layout of five junctions on the A4174 Ring Road.

The scheme aims to relieve congestion on the A4174 corridor between the Lyde Green and Kingsfield roundabouts and to improve the operation of the following junctions:

  • Lyde Green Roundabout
  • The Rosary Roundabout
  • Siston Hill Roundabout
  • Deanery Road Roundabout
  • Kingsfield Roundabout

The scheme aims to improve the capacity of some junctions along the A4174 Ring Road by widening sections of road, making extensive changes to the layout of some junctions, and expanding traffic signal control to locations that currently have no traffic lights.

The scheme will also aim to improve connections for active travel modes for non-road users, such as walking and cycling, where possible, as well as helping the flow of public transport through improved junction performance.

Please visit the consultation web page to read more information about the proposals: consultations.southglos.gov.uk/A4174Improvements

There is also a Virtual Event Space available during the consultation period (via the link to the web page above) to enable you to find out more about the scheme, including viewing plans and images of the proposals. The project team will be on hand to answer any questions via the live chat function in the Virtual Event Space on the following dates:

  • Wednesday 23 June 2021 between 8:30 am and 7:00 pm
  • Thursday 1 July 2021 between 8:30 am and 7:00 pm

Due to the uncertainty around Covid-19 restrictions, you are encouraged to visit the Virtual Event Space on the dates above to find out more about the scheme and speak to the project team.

However, the council understands that some people would still prefer to attend a face-to-face event and are therefore planning to hold face-to-face events on the following dates:

  • Wednesday 30 June 2021 between 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm at Warmley Community Centre (20 Deanery Road, Kingswood, Bristol, BS15 9JB)
  • Saturday 10 July 2021 between 1:00 pm and 5:30 pm at Emersons Green Village Hall (Emerson Way, Emersons Green, Bristol, BS16 7AP)

Paper copies of the response form are available at Kingswood One Stop Shop (High Street, Kingswood, Bristol, BS15 9TR). You can also request a printed or alternative format copy of the consultation materials by emailing the consultation team at transportservices@southglos.gov.uk or calling the council on 01454 868 000.
