The Library is situated in the heart of Oldland Parish providing relative ease of access to parishioners of all six wards. Where necessary the Library has the capacity to provide outreach to areas such as Willsbridge. This includes visiting groups such as mothers and toddlers to provide a range of interactive activities.
Cadbury Heath Library aspires to build upon its success acting as a community hub, bringing people together, tackling isolation, encouraging greater interaction and actively promoting other local services by working with them, displaying and sharing information.
Much has been achieved through providing group activities such as Chatterbooks for primary school aged children and offering the national Summer Reading Challenge every year to help children maintain and build upon their reading skills and enjoyment of reading during the summer holidays. Plus for the youngest members of the community, there is a weekly storytime and rhymetime.
The Library also provides free access to PCs, Wi-Fi and basic IT support with trained staff and volunteers. Further training is offered through courses such as basic IT skills, functional skills English and Maths and work related skills, all delivered by South Gloucestershire Community Learning.
In addition, everyone is welcome to attend regular activities, including a coffee morning, craft group and discussion group.
Alongside bestselling fiction, non-fiction, large print, audio books and children’s stock, special collections include Reading Well books for anyone living with mild mental health conditions, dementia and autism.
